Integrating an Engageli Classroom into Aula
- Before you use the Engageli integration, it’s important to add the title of the class in the Aula text editor, for example ‘Main lecture classroom’ or ‘Classroom for Group A’. This will help students understand which classroom is being linked to.
- Click on the + icon within the editor, and hover over Integrations.
- Select Engageli from the dropdown menu and the Engageli window will appear with two steps to fill:
- Step 1: This can be ignored since it is prefilled.
- Step 2: The selection depends on what type of classroom you want to create. Continue reading for an explanation of the different options.
Choosing Link Type
Under step 2, you will need to select one of the following options depending on the type of Engageli classroom you want:
- If you only want one Engageli classroom to be linked to your Aula space, click Create Engageli links that match LMS course names.
- If you want several Engageli classrooms to be linked to the same Aula space, click Link to an Engageli class.
Linking a Single Engageli Classroom to Your Aula Space
The first option you’ll see in Step 2 is Create Engageli links that match LMS course names. By selecting this option, you will create a classroom with the same title as the Aula space, granting access to all participants within that space.
This option is convenient if you want to use a single Engageli classroom for lectures or workshops with the entire student cohort. To create this, follow these steps:
- In the Engageli window, click Create Engageli links matching LMS course names if you want the classroom to match the Aula space title.
- Click the Submit button to proceed and an Engageli block will be added to your Aula space.
- Click on the Engageli block to access your Engageli classroom.
Linking Multiple Engageli Classrooms to the Same Aula Space
The second option you’ll see in Step 2 is Link to an Engageli class. By selecting this option, you will be able to link your Aula space to one or more pre-existing Engageli classrooms.
It’s important to note that all Students in the Aula space will be able to access the linked Engageli classrooms. This means it’s important to clarify which group of students should use which classroom, for instance by specifying the group name above the link.
This is a convenient option if you want to link several classrooms to one Aula space, for example to hold seminars with small subgroups of students. Doing this will allow you to have separate Engageli classrooms for each group and hold classes concurrently. In order to do it, follow these steps:
- Create the Engageli classrooms you want to link to. To manually create classrooms from Engageli, follow Engageli's guidance here.
- Back in Aula, click the Link to an Engageli class option.
- From the dropdown menu, you'll see a list of all created classes. Select the one that matches your needs.
- Once you've chosen the correct classroom, click the Submit button to confirm your choice and an Engageli block will be added to your Aula space.
- Click on the Engageli block to access your Engageli classroom.
Note
When selecting a name for your classroom, please check with your institution if there are any naming conventions you will need to follow.
