This article details how to divide the marking of an assignment between multiple educators by creating group filters.
Create a New Group Set
As a first step, please create a new marking group set. This will divide students within the same space across the educators who will be assessing submissions.
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Groups tile.
- Click the New group set button on the left-hand panel.
- Enter a name for this set of groups (e.g., the name of the assignment you want to mark), and a description (optional).
- Enable the Hide set from students toggle to ensure students don't see that they're assigned to a marking group.
- Confirm with Submit.
Add Students to a Group Set
The next step is to add students to your new group set. You can do this in three ways (see this article for step-by-step instructions):
- Create groups manually,
- Auto-generate groups, or
- Upload a CSV file.
Once your groups are created, click the pencil icon next to each group to rename it.
Best practice: Rename each group after the educator who will be marking that group’s submissions, so it’s easier to track.
Access Your Allocated Group
Once the groups are set up, here's how you can find your allocated group and start grading:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Click the assignment you want to mark to open the submissions page.
- Click the Filter by group dropdown menu at the top of the list.
- Select your allocated group from the list to filter submissions. You will only see the assignments for students within your group.
- Click on a submission to open and grade it.
Note
Marker allocation isn’t available natively in Turnitin. You can use Aula to allocate markers for any assignment type, including Handin and Turnitin.
