If you'd like to create or edit an anonymous Turnitin assignment, you can easily do so directly within the Aula platform.
Create an Anonymous Assignment
To create an anonymous Turnitin assignment, follow these steps:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Click on New assignment and a pop-up window will appear.
- Choose Turnitin and click Next.
- Add all the necessary details (Title, Open date, Due date, Grade release date).
- Enable the Anonymise student submissions option.
- Click on the Save button.
Edit Anonymity Settings
If you'd like to make changes to the anonymity of an existing Turnitin assignment, you can do it directly from the Aula platform rather than from Turnitin's interface. Here's how:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Locate your assignment and click on the three dots icon in the top right corner of that assignment.
- Choose Edit in Turnitin.
- A pop-up window will appear. Disable the Anonymise student submissions toggle.
- Click on the Save button.
Note
It isn’t possible to change an assignment from anonymous to non-anonymous once at least one submission has been made. The “Allow anonymous marking” setting will still appear under Optional Settings in Turnitin, but it will be greyed out and disabled.
Reveal a Student's Identity
On occasion, you might need to reveal a student's identity. The option to de-anonymise the whole assignment in Aula will be locked as soon as there is at least one submission. However, you can reveal an individual student's identity directly from Turnitin's interface, as instructed below:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Click on your Turnitin assignment to access the Submissions List.
- Select Open in Turnitin in the top right corner.
- On the Turnitin page, head to Assignment Inbox.
- Click Reveal and provide a reason for it.
You can find more information in the Turnitin support guide.
