This article details how to create and edit a Turnitin assignment.
Create an Assignment
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Click New assignment in the top right corner.
- Select Turnitin from the list of tools.
- Fill out the requested information: Title, Description, Open date, Due date, Grade release date.
- Click Save.
Note
- In Turnitin, it's only possible to upload one file. This means that for multipart assignments, students will need to merge all content into one document.
- If students need to submit multiple files or different file types, consider one of the following options:
- Create multiple Turnitin assignments (one per file or component), or
- Create a Handin assignment, which allows students to upload multiple files in various formats.
Show Assignment
If you enabled the Assignment is hidden toggle when setting up your assignment, you will then need to manually unhide it so that students can make their submissions:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Locate your assignment and click on the 3 dots to the right of the title.
- Select Show assignment from the menu.
Share Assignment
If you'd like, you can also use an Assignment block to embed a preview of the assignment directly on a post in the Announcements or Common Room, or a page in the Materials area.
- In the text editor, click on the + symbol.
- Choose Assignment in the drop-down menu.
- Select the assignment from the list. Only the title of unhidden assignments will be displayed.
Edit an Assignment
Follow these instructions to edit the settings of the assignment:
- Navigate to your Space and click on the Assignments tile.
- Locate your assignment and click on the three dots symbol in the top right corner.
- Click Edit in Turnitin. A pop-up window will open where you can update the assignment settings.
- When you are finished, click Save.
