This article details how to create and update assignments and share them with students.
Create A New Assignment
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Click on New assignment in the top right corner.
- Select Handin from the list of options and click Next.
-
Enter your Assignment title, open date, due date and grading type.
- Open date: Enter the date and time (in the future) that you would like the assignment to become open to submissions.
- Due date: Enter the date and time you would like the assignment to stop accepting submissions.
- Grading types: Percentage grade, rubric, free form grade, pass/fail, letter grade.
-
On the next page, add your assignment description.
- You'll be able to enter text, files, voice recordings, link embeds, along with LaTeX and code.
- When you're ready, click Next.
- On the next page, you'll have the option to configure additional settings.
- Group settings: Choose whether you want this to be a group assignment and select which group sets you'd like to use for this assignment. See more in: Assignments: Create Groups
- Assignment is hidden: Choose to hide or display your assignment to students. If you leave your assignment as visible to students, they won't be able to access it ahead of the open date anyway. They'll only see the basic information in their Assignments Lists.
- Anonymise student submissions: Choose whether you'd like to receive anonymous submissions or have the student's names displayed when grading.
- Close assignment on due date: This option allows you to automatically close the assignment once the due date/time has passed, which means that you would not allow students to upload late submissions.
- As a last step, confirm with Create.
Show The Assignment
If you checked Assignment is hidden when setting up your assignment, you will then need to manually reveal the assignment to students with the following steps:
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Locate your assignment and click on the 3 dots to the right of the title.
- Select Show assignment from the menu that will appear.
