This article details how to create and update assignments and share them with students.
Create a New Assignment
Navigate to your Space and click the Assignments tile.
Click New assignment (top right).
Select Handin and click Next.
-
Enter the assignment title, open date, due date, and grading type.
Open date: The date/time (in the future) when students can start submitting.
Due date: The date/time when submissions close.
Grading type: Percentage grade, rubric, free-form grade, pass/fail, or letter grade.
On the next page, add your assignment description. You can include text, files, voice recordings, embeds, plus LaTeX and code. Then click Next.
-
On the next page, configure any additional settings:
Group settings: Choose whether this is a group assignment and which group set(s) to use. See the following article: Assignments: Create Groups.
Assignment is hidden: Choose whether to hide or show the assignment to students. If it’s visible, students still won’t be able to submit before the open date—they’ll only see basic details in the Assignments list.
Anonymise student submissions: Choose whether student names are hidden during grading.
Close assignment on due date: Automatically closes the assignment at the due date/time (no late submissions).
Select Create to finish.
Publish the Assignment
If you selected Assignment is hidden when setting up your assignment, you’ll need to manually make it visible to students by following these steps:
Navigate to your Space and click the Assignments tile.
Find your assignment and click the three dots to the right of the title.
Select Show assignment from the menu.
