This article details how to grade students' coursework when a rubric is attached to the assignment.
How to Grade an Assignment Using Rubrics
Once a rubric is attached to an assignment, you can use it to evaluate student submissions as follows:
- Open the relevant Turnitin assignment.
- Find the submission you want to grade and, in the Grade column, click the pencil icon next to the student’s name.
- In Feedback Studio, click the Rubric icon to open the rubric.
For each criterion, use the slider to select the appropriate level/score.
Click Apply to Grade when you’re finished.
- The rubric marking will be automatically applied to the total percentage grade visible at the top of the screen.
Note
- Aula Support is unable to manually change grades once they are allocated to an assignment.
- After you attach a rubric and a student submits work, you can’t edit that rubric for that assignment. If changes are needed, the workaround is to duplicate the rubric, edit the copy, and then attach the updated version to the assignment.
In Turnitin, the Rubric Manager includes options to create a new rubric or duplicate an existing rubric.
