Aula has implemented a session management system (session timeout) to comply with the latest security protocols, and keep your data secure. This article details what it is, and what you will be required to do.
How Does It Work?
After 30 minutes of inactivity in Aula, a pop-up will ask "Are you still using Aula?"
- Click Yes to stay logged in, and in the same page you already were.
- Click No if you want to be logged out. To access Aula again, you'll be required to log in with your password or a magic code.
Even with continuous activity, every 5 days you will need to log in, as your session token will expire to keep your information secure.
Note
- Session timeout is only available in the desktop version of Aula (when you access it from a browser). When you're accessing it in the mobile app, the pop-up message won't display even after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- You will still be automatically logged out in the mobile app every 5 days, regardless of if you were active or not, to comply with security standards.
What Does 'Inactivity' Mean?
A user (a learner, an educator or a staff member) is active when they are doing any of the below in Aula:
- Typing (comments, posts, assessments, etc)
- Clicking on anything (emojis, marking materials as complete, assignments, etc)
If you are not doing any of the above for over 30 minutes without clicking on or type anything, the pop-up message above will be displayed. You just have to click Yes if you wish to stay in the same page.
FAQs
-
After clicking on "Yes", will I remain in the same page I already was?
Yes.
-
What if I'm submitting an assignment and the pop-up message displays?
When you're submitting an assignment, you're necessarily either typing or clicking on something, which means you're active in Aula. Therefore, the pop-up message won't be prompted in such cases.
-
What if I don't click on anything?
You won't be timed out automatically. The pop-up remains on the screen until the user selects an option — either “Yes” to stay logged in or “No” to log out.
