This article will guide you on how to update your profile settings in Aula. This enables you to manage your profile photo, user status, notification settings, and shows you how to log out of your Aula account. Read on to find out how to access and update these settings.
Update Your Profile Photo

In the top-right corner of the Aula platform, click your profile icon.

If you haven’t uploaded a photo yet, you’ll see the first letters of your name and surname instead.

From the menu, click Account to open the Account Details panel.
Click the pencil icon on your profile picture (or the first letters of your initials, if you haven’t uploaded a photo yet).
Select a picture from your computer, then click Open to upload it.
You’re all done! You may need to refresh the page to see the change.
Note
To make sure your upload goes smoothly, please choose a square-shaped .jpg or .png file. At the moment it isn't possible to crop a profile photo directly within Aula.
Remove Your Profile Photo
If you want to remove your profile photo, you can replace it by uploading a blank image.
If you’d like us to remove the photo completely from your account, contact us at support@aula.ac.uk and we can delete it for you. Once removed, your profile will show the default icon instead.
Set a Status
You can set a status that other users will see when they message you. This could help let others know when you’re away, out of the office, or have limited availability.

- From the menu, click Account to open the Account Details panel.
- In the Status box, select a status emoji and/or write a custom status up to 100 characters.
- Click on the Save button to save your changes. Once saved, other users will see your status below your name in their conversations window with you.
Sign Out of Aula
To log out of your Aula account, follow these instructions:

From the menu, click Sign out.
Update Your Name
- If you’d like to change your name in Aula, get in touch with our Support Team at support@aula.ac.uk and we might be able to edit it for you on our end.
- If your institution’s Aula environment is linked with the University Student Record System, your name will have to be updated on their end to avoid it switching back. In that case, please contact your university’s Registry.
Note
For security, we’ve introduced a session management system. If there's 30 minutes of inactivity, a pop-up will ask if you’d like to continue your session. Click ‘Yes’ to stay logged in or ‘No’ to log out. Even with continuous activity, every 5 days you will need to log in, as your session token will expire to keep your information secure.
