You may have 50 or even 100 students in your space, and engaging with such a large group can certainly be a challenge.
We encourage 3 approaches to help you tackle this challenge to create a more engaging learning environment for your students.
- Set up a "Meet Your Group" Section
- Create Dedicated Discussion Forums for Each Student Group
- Find Quick Opportunities for Students to Work Together
Set up a "Meet Your Group" Section
The first recommendation to work with large groups of students is to create a "Meet Your Group" section within your Materials. Before the term starts, you can add pages to divide students into smaller groups and create the following:
- An introduction activity with guiding questions if students don't know each other.
- A group challenge if students are advanced in their studies and already know each other.
Create Dedicated Discussion Forums for Each Student Group
The second recommendation to work with large groups of students is to create a Tutorial section within your Materials with different pages on it. There, you can add discussion forums for each small group.
Find Quick Opportunities for Students to Work Together
The third recommendation to work with large groups of students is to create opportunities for students to work, collaborate and reflect with each other as much as possible.
Note
To ensure optimal performance, we recommend that the maximum number of participants per space does not exceed 1,000 students.
