This article details the settings that can be found under the Player tab on quizzes.
Access the Player Tab
The Player tab on the quiz editing page will allow you to configure the student experience of the quiz. Once your quiz is created, follow these steps to access it:
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
Preconfigured Template
Choose the preconfigured template that best works for you. This is especially useful for long and multi-question items.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Choose between one of the following templates and click on it:

- Standard. Set by default.
- Long content.
- Long content with sticky footer.
Non-Pausable Quiz
If the Standard without pause button option is selected, students won't be able to pause the quiz while answering it.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Select the Standard without pause button option.
Students will not be notified that a quiz is non-pausable. To notify students of this before they start the quiz, you can add this information in the subtitle as explained below.
Title and Subtitle
This information will be visible to students when they start answering the quiz.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Add a Title and Subtitle. These fields are optional.
Quiz Time
You can configure time constraints for how much time students will have to submit the quiz.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Set the number of minutes and hours students will have to answer the quiz.
Reading Time
Reading time allows students to access the quiz and read the questions, but they won't be able to answer the quiz until the reading time is over. To notify students of this before they start the quiz, you can add this information in the subtitle as explained above.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Set the number of minutes and hours students will have to read the quiz before they start answering it.
Force to Submit
When the Force submit after time expires option is selected, students are forced to submit once the quiz time is over. Students can be notified when the quiz time is about to finish by selecting the Warn on 60 seconds remaining option.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Set the number of minutes and hours students will have to answer the quiz.
- Select the Force submit after time expires checkbox.
- Select the Warn on 60 seconds remaining checkbox.
Note
If the Quiz time is set to 0, the Force submit after time expires and Warn on 60 seconds remaining options will be grayed out. You will need to set the Quiz time in order to select those options.
Shuffle Items
When the Shuffle Items option is selected, students will see all items in the quiz in a randomized order.
- Head to Journey > Assignments.
- Enter the quiz you are working on.
- Click Edit quiz.
- Above the quiz item, you will find three tabs. Click on the Player tab.
- Set the number of minutes and hours students will have to answer the quiz.
- Select the Shuffle Items checkbox.
