Instant Feedback

If you'd like, you can display instant feedback to students as they take the quiz. There are a few ways of doing so.

Check Correct Answers

1. Head to Journey > Assignments.
2. Enter the quiz you are working on.
3. Click Edit quiz.
4. Enter the item and click on the Pencil icon to edit the question.
5. On the question editing window, scroll down and click More options.
6. Select the Check answer button checkbox.

Note

• If the Check answer attempts field is 0 (which is by default), students will have an unlimited number of attempts.
• If the Check answer attempts field is 1, students will have 1 attempt at checking their answer.

Distractor Rationale

Distractor rationale will be displayed to students each time they select an incorrect answer. It's only possible to add one distractor rationale per question. 

1. Head to Journey > Assignments.
2. Enter the quiz you are working on.
3. Click Edit quiz.
4. Enter the item and click on the Pencil icon to edit the question.
5. On the question editing window, scroll down and click More options.
6. Select the Check answer button checkbox.
7. Add 1 on the Check answer attempts field so that students have 1 attempt at checking their answers.
8. Add the Distractor rationale.

You can check how students will see the Distractor Rationale by heading to the Preview tab.

1. Head to Journey > Assignments.
2. Enter the quiz you are working on.
3. Click Edit quiz.
4. Enter the item and click on the Preview tab.
5. Select the Show Distractor Rationale checkbox and answer the question. You will see the Distractor Rationale at the bottom of the page.

Individual Distractors

For multiple-choice questions, you can add numerous individual distractors (as well as the general distractor rationale). Each individual distractor will be displayed next to its corresponding response – including the correct one.

1. Head to Journey > Assignments.
2. Enter the quiz you are working on.
3. Click Edit quiz.
4. Enter the item and click on the Pencil icon to edit the question.
5. On the question editing window, scroll down and click More options.
6. Select the Check answer button checkbox.
7. Add 1 on the Check answer attempts field so that students have 1 attempt at checking their answers.
8. Add the Distractor rationale. The order of your distractors should match the order of answers at the top of the page, i.e.

• Option 1 - Distractor 1
• Option 2 - Distractor 2
• Option 3 - Distractor 3

You can check how students will see the individual Distractors by heading to the Preview tab.

1. Head to Journey > Assignments.
2. Enter the quiz you are working on.
3. Click Edit quiz.
4. Enter the item and click on the Preview tab.
5. Select the Show Distractor Rationale checkbox and answer the question. You will see the Distractor at the bottom of the page.
